Raftaar Commerce Configuration 14 — Importing Demo Content

14 — Importing Demo Content

Start your store with ready-made example content instead of a blank site.

What it does

The demo import brings in a complete set of example content in one click:

  • Sample products
  • Pages
  • Blog posts
  • Product categories
  • Navigation menus
  • Widgets
  • Theme/Customizer settings
  • Product reviews

You can then edit or delete anything you don't want — it's a starting point, not a permanent commitment.

How to import

  1. Go to Raftaar Commerce → Import/Export.
  2. Make sure your license is active (this feature requires it — see License, Activation & Updates).
  3. Click Import, and wait for it to finish.

Important — please read before importing

  • Don't close the browser tab or navigate away while the import is running. Depending on how much media (images) is involved and your hosting speed, this can take a few minutes. Closing the tab or losing your connection partway through can leave your site with only part of the demo content in place.
  • If your hosting has a strict time limit on page loads, a very large import could be interrupted by that limit rather than finishing normally. If you're on budget/shared hosting and a demo import seems to be taking unusually long, check with your host about page execution time limits.
  • We strongly recommend taking your own full site backup before importing, especially if your site already has real content on it. While there is some automatic protection in place, it isn't a substitute for your own backup, particularly for the two situations above (a timeout, or closing the browser mid-import) — a normal backup covers you regardless of what caused an interruption.

Removing content with Reset

The same Import/Export page includes a Reset option — but please read this carefully before using it:

Reset does not selectively remove just the demo content. It deletes every product, page, blog post, product category/tag, and navigation menu currently on your site — including anything real you've added yourself since importing, not only what the demo brought in. Only use Reset if you genuinely want to wipe your site's content back to nothing and start over completely. It's the right tool for "I want a completely clean slate," not for "I want to undo the demo import specifically while keeping what I've built since."

Reset also does not remove any widgets the import added — if you'd like those gone too, remove them manually from Appearance → Widgets.

Exporting your own content

The same page lets you export your own site's content into a portable file — useful for moving content between two of your own sites, or as an additional backup of your product/page content specifically. Exports are capped at 50 MB and are meant for this kind of content backup/transfer, not as a full site-migration tool — if you're moving a large store to new hosting, a dedicated migration plugin (such as Duplicator or WP Migrate DB Pro) is a better fit.
