04 — Building Pages with Blocks
Raftaar Commerce comes with 13 custom, drag-and-drop content blocks for the WordPress editor. Use them to build your homepage, landing pages, or any other page — no coding required.
How to add a block
- Edit any page (or your homepage) with the standard WordPress block editor.
- Click the + (Add Block) button.
- Search for "Raftaar" — all 13 blocks are grouped together under the Raftaar Commerce category, so they're easy to find.
- Click a block to insert it, then use the settings panel on the right to configure it.
What you see in the editor is exactly what visitors will see — there's no separate "preview" step needed; the block editor shows the real, final design as you build.
Most blocks also let you copy a ready-made shortcode version of your exact settings (a small "copy shortcode" button in the block's toolbar) — handy if you want to reuse the same configuration somewhere shortcodes are needed instead of blocks. See Shortcodes.
Every block (and even standard WordPress blocks) has "Hide on desktop / tablet / mobile" toggles available in its settings — useful for showing different content to phone vs. desktop visitors.
The 13 blocks
RC Hero
A full-width banner section — typically the first thing visitors see at the top of a page. Two modes:
- Custom — your own background image, headline, subtext, and button, fully written by you.
- Product — automatically pulls in live details (image, price, name) from a specific product or category you choose, so the banner always stays up to date if that product's price or image changes.
RC Category Grid
A grid of clickable tiles, each showing one product category with its image — a fast way to let visitors jump straight into "Shoes," "Bags," "Sale," etc.
RC Products
A flexible product listing section. Choose:
- Which products — by category, tag, on sale, featured, best sellers, newest, or a specific hand-picked list.
- Layout — Grid, Carousel (swipeable), Masonry, or List.
- Sorting — including a "Random" option for variety on repeat visits.
- Whether out-of-stock products are hidden, shown, or shown only (useful for a clearance page).
RC Single Product
A spotlight section for one specific product — great for "Featured Product" or "Product of the Week" style sections. Three layout styles (side-by-side, a stacked layout with the image above the content, or a full-width background style), an optional auto-rotating image gallery, and toggles for exactly what shows (price, rating, description, stock status, quantity selector, Buy Now button, wishlist icon).
Note: this block requires a specific product to be selected. If that product is later deleted, the block will simply disappear from the page — just edit the block and pick a different product.
RC Promo Banner
A single promotional strip or banner — for sale announcements, seasonal messaging, or any callout you want to stand out.
RC Testimonials
A section of customer review/testimonial cards with star ratings. Add up to 9 testimonials.
RC Countdown Banner
A banner with a live countdown timer, counting down to a date/time you set — useful for limited-time sales or launches.
RC Icon Bar
A row of small icons with short text — commonly used for trust signals like "Free Shipping," "Secure Checkout," "Easy Returns," "24/7 Support."
RC Newsletter
An email signup section you can place anywhere on a page (separate from the one already built into your footer).
RC Accordion / FAQ
Expandable/collapsible content sections — click a heading to reveal the content underneath. Great for FAQs or long-form content you want to keep visually compact. Includes an optional FAQ Schema toggle (on by default) that marks your questions up for search engines, so they're eligible to appear as an expandable FAQ result directly in Google search — a genuine SEO benefit for FAQ-style content specifically, at no extra effort.
RC Product Tabs
A tabbed section switching between New Arrivals, Featured, On Sale, and Best Sellers — letting visitors browse different product sets without leaving the page.
RC Contact Form
A customizable contact form you can drop into any page. Submissions are collected in your WordPress admin — see Content Library for where to read them. By default, submissions are emailed to your site's admin email, but you can point them to a different email address instead from the block's own settings.
RC Contact Page
A ready-made, full "Contact Us" page layout combining a contact form with your business info. Like RC Contact Form, submissions can be routed to a custom email address instead of your default admin email.
Container width
Most blocks let you choose whether their content spans the full width of the browser or stays boxed (constrained to your site's normal content width) — a small toggle in each block's settings, useful for visually breaking up a long page.
Tips
- If a page you're building looks unexpectedly narrow or wide, this is usually intentional layout behavior for certain page types (like your Cart, Checkout, or a Contact page) rather than something you configured — this is standard and doesn't need fixing.
- Building your homepage from scratch? A good starting combination is: RC Hero → RC Category Grid → RC Products → RC Testimonials → RC Promo Banner.
